Welcome Back/ Fáilte ar ais

Arklow CBS are delighted to welcome back our students as we reopen for the new academic year 2021/22. We hope that all the staff and students had a fantastic summer break, and we are all looking forward to a great year here in Arklow CBS. We are especially delighted to extend a big “Céad Míle Fáilte” to our new 1st Years.

First Year Induction

First year induction took place this week . All 1st year inductions were undertaken in a Covid compliant environment. The students met of Ms Rooney, First Year Induction Co-ordinator, and their tutors Mr Fanning, Ms Byrne, Mr O Gorman who soon set them at ease. Ms Merrigan’s ice breaker games & activities got everyone working together and making lots more noise! We hope all went home looking forward to starting the next chapter of their lives. Our fantastic Liaison Students will be there daily to help anyone with any difficulties.

As well as students we also welcomed some new members of staff including Liz Battye, Cian Murphy, Nathan Byrne, Niamh Ryan, Brian Byrne Leigh Jenkinson, Dayle Nolan, Denise Kavanagh, Cailín Fitzpatrick, Siún Cashman.

Covid 19 Protocols in Arklow CBS

Firstly we would like to commend ALL students on their fantastic Covid 19 protocol compliance last year. As a result of your cooperation, we in Arklow CBS were not greatly impacted and we continued to function as normal. As we start our new academic year we need to keep up the hard work now and build on this.

We would like to remind parents/guardians that in the interest of the health and safety of our students and staff that NO INCIDENTAL CALLING TO THE SCHOOL IS PERMITTED. Parents/guardians MUST make an appointment by calling the school office on 0402 32564 prior to calling to the school. If you must come to the school for an appointment you MUST wear a MASK.

Please remember to ensure your son has spare masks in his bag, students must have at least two spare masks in their bag

We would also like to thank parents/guardians for their understanding, assistance and cooperation with this matter

Well done everyone and keep up the good work.

Leaving Cert Class of 2021

We at Arklow CBS would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Leaving Cert class of 2021 on receiving their fantastic Leaving Cert results on September 3rd. We would like to commend you all on your hard work, patience, and resilience during what was a very different and difficult 2 years for all. We wish our class of 2021 the best of luck as they pursue their chosen 3rd level path.

Ladies Football All Ireland Best of luck to Ms. Merrigan

There is a great buzz here in Arklow CBS this week in anticipation of Sunday’s TG4 All Ireland ladies football final. Our P.E teacher Ms. Merigan is playing for Wexford in Sunday’s Intermediate final against Westmeath. We would like to wish the Wicklow Ladies Junior Football team the very best of luck as they face Antrim.

Tutor class at 8.45 a.m

REMINDER. We would like to remind all students that tutorial classes are for ALL years at 8.45 a.m EVERY MORNING. Students are asked to be proceed directly to their tutorial class promptly each morning for roll call.

TY Trip to the Stables in Gorey

Our 2 TY groups are heading off on their 1st activity of the year this week to the Stables in Gorey. This will be a is a great team building day for the students. All students are to wear their P.E uniform on the day.

Gaa News

An in school Gaelic football league will commence in early September for all 1st years who are interested. Details to follow nearer to the date.
