Steps to Positivity

Here at Arklow CBS we recognise the importance of positivity and the well being of our students and staff. We took this one step further with our new initiative “Steps to Positivity”. The stairs up to the 1st floor have now been transformed with positivity quotes and tips. We hope these uplifting quotes will motivate everyone when using the stairs. The steps to positivity greatly add to the atmosphere and positivity around our great school. Well done to all involved

Ta bród orainn a rá go bhfuilimid ag glacadh páirt I nGaeilge 24 arís i mbliana ar an Máirt. Tá a lán imeachtaí eagraithe ag Roinn na Gaeilge do na daltaí.

We are delighted to announce that we will be taking part in Gaeilge 24 again this year. Gaeilge 24 will be taking place on Tuesday and the Irish Department have fun activities planned for the day.

CAO Information Evening

Ms. Rooney, our career guidance teacher held a CAO information evening on Monday night via ZOOM for 6th Year students and parents last week. The aim of this information evening was to inform and advise parents and 6th Year students on filling out their CAO forms. There was a great online attendance for the meeting. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the evening.

Rugby Blitz

Our 1st, 2nd and 3rd Years travelled to Wexford this week to take part in a rugby blitz. A great day’s rugby was had by all involved. A big thank you to Mr. Heenan and Barney Hynes for organising and accompanying the students.

U15 Soccer

Hard luck to our u15 soccer team who lost 2-0 away to Creagh College today. Both teams defended well and there was little between them. Unfortunately for us, Creagh scored the goals and we didn’t. Well done to everyone that played and never gave up. As a result of the Covid restrictions this was the first time most of these students got the chance to play together and to represent their school. There are brighter days ahead! Well done to Ms. Cummins and all involved.

Senior Soccer

We would like to wish our senior soccer team the best of luck as they take on are Coláiste Chill Mhantáin in Arklow Town on Wednesday.

5th Year P.E

This week saw the 5th year exam P.E class began their weight training programme beginning with body weight exercises. Many thanks to Stephan Hurley for providing his premises and expertise to help teach proper form and technique.

Díospóireachtaí

Tá dream mór ón chéad bhliain ag fáil réidh don chomórtas díospóireachta Gael Linn. Is é an rún atá againn ná 'Ba cheart cosc a chur ar mhúinteoirí obair bhaile a thabhairt do dhaltaí bunscoile'

Tá smaointe iontacha, go leor fuinneamh, díograis & gan dabht scil sa dream seo. Beidh muid ag obair go dian chun fáil réidh don 22ú Samhain i nGuaire.

The 1st years are busy preparing for their Irish debating competition. The motion for the debate is “We should ban homework for primary school students”. The students are extremely enthusiastic and full of great ideas. Looking forward to our debate in Gorey on November 22nd.

TY News

TY students enjoyed a trip to the cinema during the week to see the Irish language film Arracht (Monster). It is a powerful film set during the famine in Ireland. It will be representing Ireland at the Oscars next Spring in the “Best International Film” category.. It was lovely to see the students getting to experience Gaeilge outside the classroom. Tá súil againn gur bhain gach duine taitneamh as. Go raibh maith agat do Roinn na Gaeilge.
