Dear Parents
Our end of year exams will be open book exams which means that they can refer to their notes and books if they wish to. As parents, your role is will be to act as supervisor of the exam process, ensuring the students have everything the need for each exam and that all scripts are returned on time to each teacher.
In terms of preparation, the students need to attend all revision classes (next week) and some revision for each exam.
During the exams, it will be important that the students take the exams seriously and spent the whole duration of the exams (1hr) working on their exam. Worst case scenario, they can use their books and notes to keep them going. Ideally, the students would benefit if they could have a quiet room or area to complete their exams.
We are asking all our parents to have this discussion with your son, so that they have clear guidelines on what is expected of them and exactly what they need to have with them for each exams as they can’t afford the distraction of looking for items while they should be concentrating on their answers.
Look on this an a opportunity, as this may be the first and hopefully the last time, that you will be able to observe your son completing their exams, so please use the opportunity to get an insight into how your son operates and how he could improve.
During the exams our school office will be available to take calls, so that parents can contact the school if there is any problem with exams. We will be able to provide technical support and we will have hard copies of the exams, if required. In the event that your son is sick, please let us office know so we can mark let teachers.
Also, in the event that a student cannot, even with the help of his book complete or does not complete an exam, please let our office know as we will be contacting parents if an exam is not returned after the 30 minutes deadline.
