Dear Parents\Guardians
As you know the State Examinations for Junior Cycle have being cancelled due to the Pandemic and replaced with a school based assessment.
Following the Junior Cycle Assessment and Reporting guidelines, our assessment for our Junior Certificate students will be as follows:
Grades for 3rd Year certification will be calculated as follows:
2nd Year Exam Results (Christmas 2019 / Summer 2020) Average @ 40%
3rd Year Pre-Mock Exam Results (October 2020) @ 20%
3rd Year: Assessment 1 (26th April 2021) @ 20%
3rd Year: Assessment 2 (17th May 2021) @ 20%
- There will be no final end-of-year exam for 3rd Year students.
- Assessments to be agreed within each subject department.
- Assessment dates for each subject will published on school calendar
- The final two assessment weeks be held once the students return to face to face classes:
Week 1: 26 – 30 April 2021
Week 2: 17-21 May 2021
- Art, Music and Woodwork will have a different format in arriving at final overall grade for JC, due to the practical elements of these subjects.
- Student will receive a CBA grade for all CBAs completed
- All Assessments must be completed on or before the 21 May 2021.
- All student will receive a school based Certificate, with the subjects, grades and Classroom Based Assessment results.
- The Department of Education will provide each student with a certificate indicating the completion of the Junior Cycle programme of study, including the list of subjects.
