JC Results

This Wednesday saw our students receive their Junior Certificate Results. Fabulous results were achieved by the boys and the school is very proud of them. This is testament to the hard work and study put in by the students’ themselves coupled with the support of their parents/guardians working alongside the hugely dedicated teaching staff of Arklow CBS.

JC Results Trip

As part of the celebration of the Junior Certificate results students awaiting their results were taken off for the day on what has become our annual hike in Glendalough. Students had a great but tiring day and the weather held beautifully! Many thanks to Mr. Cosgrove, Ms. Doyle, Mr. Fanning, Mr. O’ Gorman and Pauline for accompanying the boys.

Sixth Years Trip to Higher Options Expo

This Friday our sixth year students went to the Irish Times Higher Options event in the RDS. This is Ireland’s largest college fair and expo for second-level students with more than 160 colleges, universities and institutes of further education from Ireland and across Europe represented. As many as 25,000 students are expected to attend the event this year as they prepare to make key decisions about what and where they will study upon completing the Leaving Cert. This expo is an extremely valuable part of the school year for our senior students. Thanks to Ms. Whelan for organising and to Mary and Geraldine for their assistance in the run up to the trip.

Third Year History Trip to Cinema

This Friday saw our Third Year History students go to the cinema to see the movie ‘Black 47’. This is a newly released film and the first one ever to be made about the Irish famine. The content of this film ties in exactly with the Junior History syllabus and students are sure to benefit greatly from seeing it. Students thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Thanks to Ms. Cummins and Mr. Cosgrove for organising it and bringing the students.

TY Volunteering Talk

Transition Year Students had a talk from County Wicklow Volunteer Centre with regard to getting involved in volunteering in the local community. TY students in the past have got involved with Tidy Towns Initiatives and with cleaning up some of Arklow’s beaches. Students have greatly benefited from volunteering and it is hoped that we can become involved this year in an even greater capacity.
