Update on New Arklow CBS Campus - Project Dargle

The National Development Finance Agency (NDFA), which is supporting the Department of Education and Skills by delivering an element of the Department's school building programme on its behalf, will shortly be releasing a Prior Information Notice (PIN) to the market with a view to stimulating interest in advance of starting the tender process for the appointment of contractors for that programme. This is separate to the tendering process- a Prior Information Notice is typically issued approximately 4 weeks in advance of the tendering process commencing.

A framework of project management and design team consultants has already been appointed for the programme and the process to appoint teams to specific project bundles is now underway.

Supervised After school Study for 6th and 3rd Years

Supervised evening study will commence on Monday November 2nd. To ensure social distancing and the safety of your son and our staff members, evening study this year will only be offered to 3rd & 6th Year students initially.

Due to the prolonged closure of schools which arose due to COVID 19, supervised evening study is an ideal opportunity for your son to get back into routine quickly and to avail of a quiet, supervised environment to complete homework, study and prepare for State Examinations in 2021.

Supervised evening study will commence on Monday 2nd November 2020. It will run from 4pm and finish at 6pm Monday – Thursday. A roll call will be taken at the start of each evening’s study. No phones or electronic devices are allowed in evening study. All evening study sessions will be in full compliance with COVID-19 school regulations and the schools code of behaviour.

If you wish your son to take part in evening study or you would like further information please email admin@arklowcbs.ie or contact the school directly on 0402 32564. Alternatively, your son can inform his tutor if he wishes to commence evening study

Careers in Arklow CBS

6th Year students had a virtual call from UCD this week in their careers class. Dara Coady and Jean McQuillan lead the presentation informing the students about all aspects of the college and what UCD has to offer. They highlighted the importance of one to one tuition and help which students can avail of, along with talking them through the courses they have to offer, ranging from Arts to Medicine.

Something that got the students attention was their huge range of sports and societies which they have to offer. They promoted the fact that they have activities to suit everyone and that the college would be a home away from home.

Their virtual open day is on November 14th. This would be a great opportunity for both students and parents to get a tour of the campus and what they have to offer. Registration is essential. Students can also register on ww.myucd.ie to receive all of the latest information.
