French Orals

This Friday saw our sixth year French students participate in their mock orals. This is an important fixture in the school calendar and students greatly appreciate the chance given to them to practice their speaking skills in advance of the real thing. Many thanks to French teachers, Ms. King and Ms. Mc Elheron.

No Uniform Day

This Friday the Parent’s Council hosted a no uniform day. This is always a day that is thoroughly enjoyed by all the students as they love the chance to wear their regular clothes!

TY School Bank

TY students participated in a financial literacy program with Cian Doyle from Bank of Ireland. The students learnt about services the bank offer, social media training, CV preparation and interview skills. Each student then took part in an interview with two members of the bank and 8 students were selected to run an in school bank for the week. The students found the experience very enjoyable and would like to thank Cian Doyle from Bank of Ireland for a great week. Thanks also to Ms. Garvey, TY Coordinator for organsing.

Senior German Trip

This week our fifth, sixth and TY German students travelled to the Mermaid Arts Theatre in Bray to see ‘Das Schweigende Klassenzimmer’ The Silent Revolution. The film centred around several sixth-grade students, who show their solidarity with the victims of the 1956 Hungarian uprising by staging a minute's silence during lessons. This was an excellent film that tied in with both History and German! Our students very much enjoyed the film and were a credit to the school whilst on the trip! We made a quick stop at Coynes Cross for a bite to eat before heading back to the school. Our students will now be able to discuss the film during their Oral exam. Thanks to Ms. Ryan and Ms. Mc. Elheron for organising.

Catholic Schools Week

This week students at Arklow CBS celebrated Catholic Schools Week. The theme of the week for 2019 is 'Celebrating the work of our local Catholic schools'. Throughout our lessons, students celebrated and reflected on the unique contribution of Catholic schools to education. The Daily Themes throughout the week included: Living Tradition, Welcoming Diversity, and Supporting Faith.
