Gaelige 24 2023.jpg

Ghlac 36 daltaí pairt i nGaeilge 24. Thosaigh an lá le séisiúin HIIT as Gaeilge.Fuair na daltaí go léir t-léinte agus bhí neart Gaeilge le cloisteáil timpeall na scoile. Ansin ag am lóin fuair gach duine burgair agus chuamar ar shiúlóid timpeall an bhaile ag lorg focail/frásaí le Gaeilge. Bhí lá iontach ag gach duine a ghlac páirt I nGaeilge 24 2023.Is í aidhm an dúshláin seo ná daoine óga a spreagadh chun labhairt as Gaeilge amháin ar feadh 24 uair a chloig: sa bhaile, ar scoil, le siopaí agus gnólachtaí, timpeall an bhaile , sa chlub spóirt agus le cairde.

36 students took part I Gaeilge 24. The students started out with as HITT session as Gaeilg and they all got their t-shirts. At lunch time the students were treated to a burger followed by a walk around the town searching for all the Irish words and phrases that are in front of our eyes. A great day was had by all and there was plenty of Irish to be heard around the school. Well done to all who took part.

The aim of the Gaeilge 24 challenge is to encourage young people to try and speak Irish non-stop for one whole day, 24 bours: at home, at school, in shops and businesses, around the town, in sports clubs and with friends.

Basketball News

U19 Basketball.jpg

Our U19 basketball team are successfully through to the preliminary rounds of the South East Regional Competition after a win against Enniscorthy CC. The score finished 37-22 in favour of Arklow and the boys are now through to the quarter finals where a tough test lies ahead against CBS New Ross. Well done lads.

Unfortunately, the journey has ended in the South East regional competition at the quarter final stage for our U16 team. They were beaten by a very well rounded and tall Meánscoil Gharman team. While the result didn’t go their way, the heart, effort and determination show the character of these boys.
