Arklow CBS school news for week ending 26th January 2024
TY students through to round three of The Irish Angus Beef Schools Competition
TY students Shane Gregory, Sé Killoran, Conor Wilson and Kory Merrigan went to Portlaoise Education Centre for the second round of The Irish Angus Beef Schools Competition recently. In order for the students to progress to the second round the boys had to create a video explaining how they can make farming sustainable. Their video was selected from hundreds of entries from round two. The second round consisted of an in-person interview with the three sponsors of the competition Kepak, ABP and Certified Irish Angus. The students were interviewed on their video entry and asked about how they would promote the bred of Angus Beef to the Irish farmer. Best of luck to the students and fingers crossed for round three.
Junior Football Success
Well done to our Junior football players, and to their coaches Mr. Fanning and Ms. Mitchell on their recent victory over a strong CCA Kilcoole team this week. The boys battled hard, showing great heart and determination to come out on top in this close encounter.
Senior Art Trip
Last Thursday saw our senior art students with their teacher Ms. Charlton head to the National Gallery of Ireland and the Hugh Lane Gallery. The students enjoyed the fabulous exhibitions in both galleries. A great day was had by all.
Athletics News
Well done to Own Gibbons TY on finishing 3rd in the Inter race at the East Leinster Schools Cross Country this week. This was a fantastic achievement and Owen now advances on to the Leinster Finals. Well done Owen.
Mock exams 2023
We would like to wish all our 6th Year and 3rd students the very best of luck as they prepare to sit their mock exams over the next 2 weeks. These exams provide students with invaluable experience regarding exam technique and timings for the SEC exams in June. The mocks will run until February 9th.
