Art, Wordwork and Musical Practicals.

We would like to congratulate all our Junior Cert and Leaving Cert Music, Art and Woodwork students on completing their practical exams in these subjects this week. A huge amount of hard work and effort was put in by the students and their teachers.

2nd Year Glass workshop

Our 2nd stained- glass workshop ( Creative Engagement Project) took place at Bianca Divito’s studio in Coolgreaney on Thursday. Before Easter, students gained an understanding of the skills and techniques involved in this area of practice including cutting glass, copper foiling and sandblasting. They got to make sample pieces.

On Thursday, students got the opportunity to refine their skills by creating an individual stained-glass hanging piece, working from their design plan. They were introduced to the technique of soldering and got to solder their final work.

It was an amazing opportunity for the students to work in a professional studio. We want to express our gratitude to Bianca and her Dad for a truly inspirational experience! Well done too to a wonderful group of students!

This week our TY students had a fantastic meal in our local Chinese restaurant “Asian Harvest”. Our students who are doing Chinese Studies with Mr. O’Gorman as part of their studies in TY were treated to a delicious buffet Chinese meal. A truly enjoyable meal and afternoon was had by all. A special word of thanks to Aggie and her team in “Asian Harvest” for their hospitality.
