School Prospectus

We invite all parents, current and prospective to check out our new school prospectus. The prospectus provides parents with an insight into some of the excellent facilities that the school has to offer students as well as the great teaching, learning and extra-curricular that goes on in Arklow CBS. We are very proud of our school and we are sure you will be very impressed with our new prospectus and will be surprised at all that is going on here. Our new school prospectus is now available to peruse on our school website.

Open Night

Arklow CBS are hoping to run our traditional and very popular OpenNight on November 11th from 7-9 for incoming 1st years and parents. This of course is completely dependent on the lifting of restrictions and the government guidelines at the time. Please keep an eye on our social media pages for updates.

Bond, James Bond. 5th Year Cinema Trip

Our brilliant fifth year students were left shaken and stirred after their trip to see No time to die in the Omniplex on Friday. The lads thoroughly enjoyed their BONDing trip to the Cinema. Hopefully 007 will inspire some of them on their quest for 700 points.

All the lads will be doing a movie review on the latest instalment of the Bond franchise “as Gaeilge” for Monday. Remember numerous teachers on the Irish department have a license to kill if this is not submitted.

A big thanks to the man with the golden gun Mr. Lally and our own Miss Moneypenny Elaine for accompanying on us on our cinema trip.

Mental Health Day

Tuesday October 12th saw Arklow CBS celebrate its first Mental Health Day. Arklow C.B.S. Mental Health Day was organised in lieu of World Mental Health Day which was on Sunday 10th October. The aim of the day was to encourage students to look after their mental health, to remember that it is ok not to be ok and to remember that there is always someone to talk to. Know that you are not on your own, and we as a school community, are in this together. Remember that we are there to support each other.

The Senior students went on a lovely river walk. The Junior students went on a walk to Glenart Woods. All students got a doughnut on their return. There was an Instagram photo competition organised. A huge well done to Ms. Rooney for organising and to all the school community who participated and helped out. It is hoped that Arklow CBS Mental Health Day will become an annual event in the school calendar.

Gaelic Football

The Arklow CBS second year Gaelic football team got their season off with a comprehensive victory against Avondale CC on Wednesday last. The match was played on home ground at Pearse Park. Due to Covid 19 and the various restrictions imposed last year this group of players finally got their chance to represent their school on the playing field. And the wait was worth it.

The CBS lads got off to a flying start with the midfield duo of Ryan Redmond and Cian Scanlon quickly stamping their authority. This was a real team performance throughout with all members of the panel playing a full part. The CBS labs showed great speed and skill levels as well as power and strength on the ball .Sé Killoran was solid as a house at full back and with Adam Lifely who was a powerhouse with strong running and scoring at full forward. Any afternoon where a teams scored

4-16 is certainly a sign of better things to come .

While this was a successful first round, the team are well aware that stronger and more challenging games are due in the coming months. The future of Gaelic football is very strong in the CBS with this gifted bunch of lads who have been brilliantly developed and coached by their clubs AGB, Annacurra, Castletown, Avoca and Aughrim

The following players all played an active role on the day

Ryan Morgan, Conor Wilson, Sé Killoran, Brendan Kenny , Shane Gregory ,Tom Kavanagh, Hiranya Peiris, Kian Scanlan, Ryan Redmond ,Ryan Gleeson, Jack Keogh, Ciaran Redmond, Charlie Lappin ,Adam Lifely, Cormac O Donoghue, Markuss Kazimirs , Maxim Hannon, Cian Malone, Mathew Byrne and Seán O Connor.

In other football news, we would like to extend a huge congratulations to the AGB U15 Gaelic football players especially our CBS boys on reaching the County Final after a fantastic win last week-end. Well done to all involved and best of luck in the final.
