Seachtain na Gaeilge 2022
Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge den scoth againn arís I Scoil na mBráithre Críostaí I mbliana. Bhí neart imeachtaí eagraithe do na daltaí mar shampla: chuaigh an chéád bhliain, an dara bliain agus an triú bliain chuig an bpictiúrlann, bhí comórtas postaeir, bhí seanfhocal an lae, bhí cluichí boird agus tráth na gceist.
We had another great Seachtain na Gaeilge here in Arklow CBS this year. The Irish Dept organised loads of activities for the students including a cinema trip to an Irish film for 1st, 2nd and 3rd years, poster competitions, proverb of the day, board games and a quiz. Mar a deir an seanfhocal “Beatha an teanga, í a labhairt”.
Gaelic Football news
Senior Gaelic Football: Arklow CBS V Avondale Community College
Arklow CBS played their first game of the Wicklow senior A school championship in a sun drenched Avondale pitch last week. While the weather gods smiled down on us the result did not go our way.
A very strong Avondale who would be highly fancied for this championship proved too strong for the Arklow lads.
Conor Gahan capped off a fine performance in midfield with a goal. Conn Kinsella & Aaron O Brien also found the back of the net. Páidí Kavanagh & Pádraig Bermingham covered every blade of grass and really epitomised a never say die attitude. Sam Butler was always a threat from the half forward line. Jack Kavanagh came of the bench a showed flashes of genius which kept the Avondale defence on their toes. The final score was Avondale CC - 5-10 Arklow CBS - 3-7.
Well done to all involved.
