Geography Trip to Roadstone

Next week our first year students will be going on a Geography trip to Roadstone quarry in Arklow. The students will get to experience first hand what a working quarry is like. We are very appreciative of Roadstone for allowing our student the privilege of visiting their quarry.

Arklow Credit Union

Our first year students went on a visit to Arklow Credit Union on Tuesday organised by Stephen Whelan. Whilst at the credit union they received advice on money and savings and were all given application forms to open their accounts. Stephen is present every Tuesday in School during lunchbreak where students can lodge and withdraw money. We greatly encourage our students to participate in this as it is good practice to get into the habit of saving. We are also greatly appreciative of Arklow Credit Union for allowing us the facility of having a mobile credit union on site every week.

Gael Linn Debating Competition.

Our Junior and senior boys are taking part in the Irish language Gael Linn debating competition this week. Best of luck lads and we will update the school news with more details once they become available.

Gaeilge 24

Some of our junior students will be taking part in Gaeilge 24 next week. this is a challenge where students speak Irish everywhere both inside and outside of school for 24 hours. We are very proud of the students who have signed up to this challenge and we wish them every success! Beir Bua Buachailli.

Basketball Match Report Monday 4th of November

Venue: Creagh College Gorey

Senior Basketball team: Tadhg Powell, Ross Kenny, Eric Wynne, Brandon Hanlon and Keelan Delaney.

Substitutes: Jason Breen, Ian Wright, Craig Caufield, Dylan Cloke, Pitor Paneczko, Cian Mc Donald, Paul O’Connor, Jakub Kuryzna.

Score: Creagh 47 Arklow CBS 15

A very slow start for Arklow CBS which dictated the rest of the match. Tadhg got 2 points in the 2nd quarter. Eric got a free throw in 3rd quarter. Yet despite continued effort by the CBS Creagh continuously scored and out shone our team.

The strongest performance for the CBS was from Tadhg and Ross who worked consistently throughout the game. Jason Breen, Jakub Kuryzna and Craig Caufield also made contributions when substituted during the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

Junior Basketball team: Starting team: Conn Kinsella, Conor Gahan, Arturo Amoros Gay, Sean Mc Carthy, Owen Byrne.

Subs: Kasey Clarke, Stephen O’Toole, Niall O’Donovan, Tom Bruckner, Wiktor Gajek, Daniel Beltran

Final score 29 Arklow CBS and 39

A good effort was made by the team and the substitutes of Kasey Clarke, Niall O’Donovan, Stephen O’Toole and Wiktor. Arturo was exceptional achieving many scores for Arklow CBS. The team really made good effort in the 3rd quarter but unfortunately not enough to achieve a win. Niall O’Donovan really contributed to the team in the 3rd quarter and Sean worked consistently hard throughout the match. It was disappointing as it appeared as if the CBS had the upper hand at the end of the 3rd quarter, but were unfortunately unable to sustain in the last quarter.

Many thanks to Ms. Whelan for accompanying the teams.

🏉Junior Rugby🏉

The junior rugby team headed out for their second blitz of the year on Wednesday held in Arklow Rigby club. A strong pack of forwards followed by a speedy back line were very successful on the day. Some great teamwork from the lads led to a successful four games. Dean Kelly Farrell scored an astonishing total of five tries throughout the day. Conn Kinsella scored two splendid tries followed by some terrific kicking. Roan Freehill got a try. Owen Ward left his opposing team in the dust but was unsuccessful in getting the try. Some Great carries by Scott Kavanagh, Sean McCarthy and Eoin Byrne assisted in the win. Conor Gahan and Padraic Birmingham’s tackles were immaculate. Conor Healy’s passes at scrum half were brilliant. Great partnership between Josh Robinson and Daniel Byrne in the centre of the pitch. The two wingers, John O’Neil and Philip Feokrytrov were quick as light. Charlie Graham played a stormer in full back and didn’t let a thing through. The lads now move on to the cup.

Man of the day was Scott Kavanagh

Well done lads and many thanks to Mr. Heelan for accompanying them.
