Arklow CBS Gaelic Football
Arklow CBS has a long tradition in Gaelic football across Wicklow Senior, Junior and first year post primary competitions. The school have been Wicklow Post primary champions on 5 occasions. We here at Arklow CBS endeavour to continue the strong tradition of Gaelic football in Arklow community. Since 2014 Arklow CBS contested three post primary county finals eventually clinching the Senior B championship in 2018. Our first years Gaelic footballers also clinched the senior B title in 2018.
We encourage all students to participate in Gaelic Football. Many past students will testify that time spent on the GAA pitch had a major influence on their development as a person. Gaelic Football can be a welcome outlet from the pressure of exams which teenagers may face during their time in secondary school.
There are weekly training sessions in Pearse Park organised in conjunction with the county board youth develpment officer. Students who participate in Gaelic Football develop qualities like resilience, discipline and teamwork.
