Basketball

On Tuesday 28th February our first and second years had basketball matches against Colaiste Cill Mhantain.  Our first years won 9-2 and man of the match went to Tommy New.

Our second years also were victorious with a score of 20-14. Man of the match went to Independence Winters.  Congratulations to our players.

 

UNDER 17 LEINSTER QUARTER FINAL SOCCER

Our soccer players had a great win in Lamberton, Arklow against Clara, Offaly on Monday, 5th March with a final score of 3-1 to us. Goals were scored by Darren Furlong, Sean Hurley and Craig Kinsella.  Our team now go into the semi final against Fir House, Tallaght.

 

USA SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS

On Tuesday, 6th March, Ruari O Connor, operations manager for Pass 4 Soccer Ireland talked to students on Third level education in the USA, in particular about soccer.  He was himself a recipient of a scholarship and studied at the University of Memphis. The students found this talk to be very interesting and informative.

 

BIOSYSTEMS ENGINEER TALK

On Wednesday, 7th March, biosystems engineer, Michael Tinsley from Wicklow Co. Council gave a presentation to transition year students  on his job, the type of work involved and also on the water systems in the local area.  Students found this talk very interesting.

 

MENTAL HEALTH

On Thursday, 8th March, Michael Noble, development officer of Mental Health Ireland gave a presentation to second year students of SPHE, on the importance of adopting a positive mental attitude in their daily lives.  He stressed how important this is especially given the pressures of everyday life.

 

GARDA TALK

On Monday, 12th March, the gardai gave a talk to our fifth year LCVP students.  Students enjoyed the presentation and learned quite a lot on what's involved in the profession and what’;s needed to become a guard.

 

COVENANT PLAYERS

On Tuesday, 6th March our Transition year students were visited by the Covenant Players.  Thanks to Mr. O’ Regan for organising.

 

ARKLOW MUSIC FESTIVAL

A big congratulations to our students who won prizes in Arklow Music Festival and well done to all those who participated. Our first year students did really well - Sean O’ Keeffe came first in the under 14 piano, Michael Owen got highly commended in the under 14 piano, Daniel Codd came first in the monologue and Stephen Walker got highly commended in the monologue.  Transition year student, Darragh Gilleece came first in the under 16 piano and Fifth year student, Kane Molloy came first in the duologue and first in the W.B.Yeats award.
