Stephen Donnelly Independent TD for Wicklow visited second year and third year students in Arklow CBS on Friday last 28th September. He spoke openly to the students about the current situation Ireland is experiencing and the outlook for the next 4 – 5 years. Students got involved in a question and answer session where many students impressed our local TD expressing strong opinions and asking very insightful questions! Students have been invited to visit the Dail and may organise this in the very near future.
Hilary Taylor and her husband Ciaran met with the third year CSPE students in Arklow CBs on Friday last. Both are volunteers with Pashli – a charity organisation who attempt to make a difference to the economically deprived people of Belarus who live in extreme poverty. They want to make a difference by improving the living conditions and social opportunities of the orphan children and neglected elderly in Belarus. Following their visit CBS students intend organising Charismas gift shoeboxes for the elderly. These gifts are received by the elderly as though they had won the lottery. Students aim to encourage as many students/families as possible to get involved and so make a difference in the lives of these people and Christmas. See www.pashli.org for more details.
