‘Arklow CBS gives Hope’.
As part of a first year C.S.P.E. project, organised by Ms. Rooney, the first year class groups excelled with their efforts and contribution for the Christmas Shoebox Appeal. We collected thirty eight shoeboxes in total, which was a great achievement for the school. With the current climate we are in at present, it is difficult for students and families to have the money to participate in such a charity event for Team Hope. The students showed great interest and felt that they were ‘making a difference’. The shoeboxes are sent to several different countries that are victims of war, disease or poverty. The shoeboxes could be made for girls or boys and for different age categories, ranging from two to fourteen years of age. The shoeboxes were collected from the school on Friday the 9th of November. After three weeks of preparation and organising the shoeboxes, the students handed them over to Team Hope. From talking to the students after they had been collected, they all felt great about what they had achieved. The students said it was ‘thoughtful and considerate and they felt proud of themselves because of what they had done and the effort they put in’. One student said ‘it is great helping somebody that we don’t even know, and knowing they will have a good Christmas thanks to us.’

Drug Awareness Drama
Our TY students attended an emotionally charged drama on Thursday last about drug use and abuse. The drama really brought home the deadly effects and consequences of drug abuse and the impact on the individual and on their friends and family. Excellent performances to all involved in particular our own Liam Lynch, Aaron Dunne, Piotr Nowak and Jelle de Zwarte.
