Arklow CBS was recently awarded a music grant from Music Generation and have bought a brand new piano for the school music room. This is a wonderful addition to our collection of instruments in the music department.

Our TY students went on a trip to the Aviva Stadium to follow up on a research project which they had conducted in English class with their teacher Ms. Rooney. They also visited Croke Park where they went to the enterprise awards as part of their Business studies with Ms. Garvey. The boys had a thoroughly enjoyable day.

TY Essay Winner
Transition Year student, Thomas Shortall, has been selected as one of the top five in Ireland with his essay on ‘The Challenges that face Ireland and Does your future lie here?’. ARKLOW MUSIC FESTIVAL WINNERS
Congratulations to our Second Year students – Ryan Wynne, Jake Taite, John Rose, Niall Kenny, Anthony Van Dalsen, Stephen Walker, Christopher Winters and Daniel Codd who won the Post Primary Drama Competition and also the overall Drama Award. First year soccer
The first year team were unlucky to be beaten 3 – 2 in some very bad weather conditions when they played against Colaiste Bride Carnew last Wednesday. Tom Somers got the first goal for the CBS after some good team play. 2nd Year Retreat
The annual school retreat was held recently for our second year group in Aras Lorcain. Participating students enjoyed the day and found it to be extremely beneficial.
The mock exams have now drawn to an end for our third and sixth year students. It has been a long tiring two weeks on our students but they have certainly found the experience to be extremely worthwhile and beneficial in helping them prepare for their state exams.

First year students progress to Semi – Finals of Wicklow Gaelic Football League. Arklow CBS participated in a practice match against the Gael Cholaiste. The CBS outmatched the Gaelscoil with Tom Somers and James Larkin the main score getters. Brian O' Halloran ensured that the back line was kept solid with a great team performance.

School Open Night
Last night saw our annual open night take place in the school running from 7pm to 9pm. The school was packed to capacity with students from the local primary schools visiting along with their parents and guardians. All the classrooms were open to the students and displays of students work were on show. The science lab proved to be a popular attraction with hearts, kidneys and eyes being chopped up!!
