  Week ending 23 February 2012   FIRST YEAR HURLING BLITZ Our first year students took part recently in a 7 a side hurling blitz for Co. Wicklow schools at Arklow Sports and Leisure Centre. Our first years were the overall winners beating Wicklow Community College in the final 16-15. ARKLOW CBS SCHOOL NEWS CHRISTMAS CONCERT our school held its annual Christmas concert before the holidays organised by music teacher Miss Lee.  All enjoyed some great performances by students and teachers alike. VISIT TO ASH ANIMAL SANCTUARYOur third years visited Ash Animal Sanctuary on Tuesday 6th December as part of their C.S.P.E. action project.  All students found it to be of great interest and thoroughly enjoyed the day. WORK EXPERIENCEOur Transition Year students had a work experience week from 28th of Nov to 2nd Dec, with students going to various places of work including labs, film studios and companies like Arklow Shipping.  They found the week tiring but extremely beneficial! ....

Trinity College Transition Year Physics ExperienceAdrain Whelan and Conor Bain went to Trinity College from the 7th to the 11th November for the Trinity College Transition Year Physics Experience. LE OrlaThe LE Orla is one of two Coastal Patrol Vessels which were bought from the British Royal Navy and commissioned into service in the 1980s. L E Orla was docked in Arklow on October 28th-31st  and students of Arklow CBS were invited to board and given a guided tour. Due to its high speed and shallow draught this vessel is ideal for patrolling close to Ireland's coastline. and it was involved in some of the largest seizures of narcotics and arms in Irish history. JAVA COMPUTER PROGRAMMING Java computer programming classes are starting next week for any of the students interested.  This course will be of particular interest to any students hoping to go on to college to pursue courses in computer gaming.  Thanks to Mr. Somers for organizing.   PARENTS COUNCIL A Parent’s Council meeting took place on Wednesday 12th October.  The Parent’s Council provides valuable support to the school and students.

Poetry Slam Workshop.
