Date for the Diary
Arklow CBS Parents’ Council have organised a Music Night fundraiser on Friday 18th September at 8.30pm in the Arklow Bay Hotel. It is sure to be a fun filled night with music by Black Cherry, DJ Donal and Séan Fox and lots of fabulous raffle prizes. Tickets €15 are available from the school office, CBS EasyPayments or on the door on the night.
Open Night & Enrolment
Many thanks to everyone that came along to our Open Evening last Thursday and made it such a success. If you missed out on attending the evening, check out our school social media pages for highlights and our prospectus on our school website. Enrolment is now open for all incoming first year students. Prospective students can find and complete their enrolment form on the school website. Reminder: Please ensure to return the student data form ASAP, deadline is 10 November 2022.
Tiernan is on top of the world!
Congratulations to past pupil Tiernan Kavanagh on winning gold at the World Solo Drumming Championships in Glasgow at the weekend. A fantastic achievement, well done!
County Final Success
Congratulations to Arklow CBS students Adam Lifely, Sé Killoran and Jack Wolohan and their Annacurra teams mates on their u15 B Football county championship victory at the weekend against St. Pat’s. Similarly, well done to all our students involved with Arklow Rocks u15 hurling league final win against Carnew on Sunday.
Athlethics
First and Second year students had a very successful run today at Avondale Forest Park for the Wicklow Schools Invitational Athletics Cross Country 2000m run. Congratulations to Hubert Wogralik who came 1st and won the First Year 2000m race. An experienced athlete, Hubert competed against First years from several Wicklow Schools on wet and hilly terrain. Well done to everyone who took part, as each athlete completed this difficult run in full. Athletics Training takes place at Arklow CBS each Thursday from 4-5pm. Golf News
Ross Doyle Roche and Eldon Kernan took part in an Arklow inter-school competition on a showery Wednesday this week in Arklow Golf Links . Ross Doyle Roche won second place on the day. Well done Ross!
Soccer News
Our senior soccer team suffered a defeat away this week against Borris Vocational school. They still have a competitive league to take part in with the next game at home on the 9th November.
Healthy Eating
First year SPHE classes have been learning about healthy eating in class recently. This week they put that they’ve learned to practice by making fruit smoothies. A great tasty way to increase fruit intake!
Mid-Week Music Sessions
The second in our lunch time mid week music session series took place on Wednesday in the music room with Ms. Lee. This week the lucky audience were treated to a beautiful piano recital by second year student Scott Hannon.
Ms. Lee’s Choir Success
Congratulations to Ms. Lee and her choir ‘Dynamics’ on winning first place in the Derry Choral Festival Vocal Ensemble Competition at the weekend.
Arklow CBS Static Cycle in Aid of Pieta House
Thank you to everyone who donated to our static cycle against suicide in Bridgewater shopping centre recently in aid of Pieta house. Thanks to your generosity on the day and via our Go Fund Me Page an impressive €1100 was raised for this worthwhile cause. Many thanks to the students who took part cycling 320km in total and to Mr.O’Gorman, Mr. Regan and Mr. Kearney for organising.
Christmas Shoe-box Appeal
1st years and 2nd years are organising this years CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX APPEAL, an Annual campaign that delivers gifts straight into the hands of children affected by poverty across Africa and Eastern Europe. Often these shoeboxes are the only gift that they will receive at Christmas! Please support, if you can. See Teamhope.ie, Shoebox Appeal for details.
How to build a box: 1. Wrap a box, 2. Decide who your gift is for, a girl or boy aged 2 – 14 years, 3. Fill your box with lovely gifts, from the 4W’s list – write, wash, wear, wow! (see online for more details),4. Include €4 in your box, for postage, 5. Secure your box with a large elastic band.

Non-Uniform Day
We held a non-uniform day in Arklow CBS on Friday the 28TH of October. All the proceeds were donated to Rathdrum and Arklow Cancer support centres. Thank you to all who contributed to this very worthy charity
Positive Affirmation Committee
Students who have been recommended to PAC for reaching 10 merits. Well done to each of them as they continue to display excellent behaviour and positive contribution to the school community.

October Mid-Term Break
