New School Building
Exciting news has recently been received that we are to receive a completely new school with facilities to cater for 500 students. The state of the art new building is currently at the architectural stage but we should soon be able to unveil the plans.
Mock Orals
This week saw our senior students participate in their Mock Irish Orals. The Mock Orals are a great way for the students to practice their language speaking in an exam environment.
Transition Year Parent/Teacher meeting
On Wednesday 27th February we had our TY Parent/Teacher meeting. These meetings are an important part of the school calendar and allow parents/guardians the opportunity to meet first hand with school teachers and to discuss their children’s progress.
Cluster Workshops for Teachers
Thursday 28th February Cluster Workshops took place for all our teachers. These workshops are an Inservice Day organised by the Department of Education & Skills with the aim of training teachers in the new changes coming on stream with the new Junior Cycle.
TY Percussion Workshop
Students took part in a percussion workshop on Friday 1st March with Conor Moore - The Drummer/Director of Sound Out Rhythm. The day consisted of preparing a range of rhythms that were combined together and therefore resulted in infectious rhythms for all to enjoy. The drumming varied from tribal drumming, hand drumming, kit drumming, and relaxing drumming. The students learned to lead on a drum, play like a team player, and be more of a skilled listener as well as a drummer. This event has now become an annual one in the TY school calendar and it is certainly one that they thoroughly engage with and enjoy. Thanks again to Ms Levingstone for organising.
6th Year Chartered Accountant Speaker
Our Senior students enjoyed an extremely informative talk from Chartered Accountant Ms. Breda McCarthy. Many students attended this talk and found it really beneficial in terms of the information provide. Thanks to Ms Whelan for organising.
