Last Term

We welcome our students back to school for the last term. The pressure is now on our third and sixth year students as they enter the final strait in the run up to the state exams. Students are busy studying and revising and like students in previous years are sure to do excellently.

Student Enterprise Awards

Congratulations to second year student, Ross Byrne who is representing Co. Wicklow in the intermediate category of the Student Enterprise Awards in Croke Park today. Ross has worked exceptionally hard on his project and it is an amazing achievement to come so far in such a prestigious competition. Many thanks to Ms. Garvey for accompanying Ross to Dublin today.

Junior Gaelic

Congratulations to our junior footballers who won the Junior B shield today in Rathdrum. Arklow CBS had two very competitive teams entered in this competition today and it was the team led by Joe McGeary who went all the way and lifted the shield. The lads on the other team led by Kealan Delaney competed very well in each game they played but just fell short in the end. Sam Butler and Oran Kelly put in outstanding performances in their opening group game against the eventual finalist Avondale. The final was a very well contested tie with both Arklow and Avondale vying to get their name on the shield. Two goals from Con Kinsella and one from Patrick O Halloran meant that the CBS led by 3.2 to 1.2 at half time. Avondale came out strong in the second half and even narrowed the deficit to three points. However, the turning point in the game was a fabulous save pulled off by Kyle Nolan which ensured the Arklow lads kept their 3 point cushion. Points from Dean Kelly Farrell and Joe McGeary and another Patrick O Halloran goal ensured that Arklow CBS ran out 4.5 to 3.3 winners in the end. Tournament organizer Jim Murphy commented that the victorious CBS team was one of the strongest 9 a sides he had seen in this tournament. Well done lads and many thanks to Mr. Cosgrove for all the hard work and time he has put into the team!

After school study and homework club

Just a reminder that after school study is back up and running this week after the Easter break. Exam year students are encouraged to attend this as it gives them the opportunity to study and revise in a quiet structured supervised environment.

First and second year students can also attend our one hour after school homework club. This is supervised by our dedicated school librarian and students can get homework or projects completed in a quiet space in the school. Younger students are strongly encouraged to attend this as it gives them good practice in the skill of studying, one which they will need for the state exams they face in future school years.
